Research at SMALL
  • Two phase active droplet control (two-phase droplet sorting)

    • Designed and implemented a two-phase sorting device based on electrostatic actuation

    • Studies the parameters including magnitude of actuation voltage and frequency to droplet sorting

    • Realized the single droplet manipulation with actuation frequency

  • Two phase passive droplet control (Synchronization and distribution)

    • Designed and implemented the microfluidic device which could synchronize the position of two droplets in continuous flow microfluidic device

    • Realized two-phase droplet guiding and distribution device regardless of its hydrodynamic resistance value

    • Studied and characterized on the phenomenon as a function of flow rate and droplet size

  • Microfluidic pump using piezo actuator (New scale technologies, Rochester, NY)

    • Developed a small size microfluidic pump using piezo actuator

    • Focused on design and fabrication of microfluidic device which included fluidic channel and valve

  • Micro-particle encapsulation in two-phase droplet

    • Single particle encapsulation using inertia force
